ample parking or the preferred Three Horseshoes pub in Elsford a little up the road. The Three Horseshoes is a traditional country pub bursting with character, inside is like stepping back in time. It has a beautiful garden with fantastic views over fields of crops and a flock of chickens that happily roam free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/getoutside39507958bf.blob.core.windows.net\/blobgetoutside39507958bf\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/harting-downs-harting-wildflowers.jpg\" alt=\"Harting Downs \" class=\"wp-image-13142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osmaps.com\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/harting-downs-harting-wildflowers.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/osmaps.com\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/harting-downs-harting-wildflowers-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osmaps.com\/discover\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/harting-downs-harting-wildflowers-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning at the Three Horseshoes, follow this route through farmland and up a steep wooded path onto the Downs. It\u2019s a bit of a climb but well worth it. Views from Beacon Hill and Harting Downs are some of the best on the South Downs Way. But first, enjoy a picnic and a flask of hot coffee on the ridge looking out over the quaint villages of South and East Harting. Spring is one of the best times of year to do this walk as you\u2019ll be greeted with an abundance of colourful wildflowers.
