The subject has my full attention.<br \/>\nRole models have always been important.<br \/>\nA recent poll suggests nearly a 25% of British boys aged 14 to 18 think women belong in the kitchen.<br \/>\nIf any of my son\u2019s friends ever peddle that nonsense they will all be chained to the kitchen sink.<br \/>\n25%? That\u2019s a quarter of all boys! What went wrong?<br \/>\nThe toxic few who peddle the misogyny have a big reach (thanks to tech algorithms) and make a loud noise (thanks to the press) but we must not let them drown out the great male role models who represent an authentic\/vulnerable\/ relatable masculinity.<br \/>\nFor me modern masculinity does not mean you can\u2019t be strong, and brave and hairy and muscly<br \/>\nIt means you can be all of those things while also being empathetic, kind and open minded.<br \/>\nYou can climb a dangerous mountain AND wash the dishes<br \/>\nYou can run an Ultra AND lack confidence.<br \/>\nYou can have big muscles AND cry<br \/>\nYou can have a big beard AND believe in equality.<br \/>\nYou can be successful AND relatable<br \/>\nYou can be wealthy AND compassionate<br \/>\nEven popular culture shows like the BBCs Apprentice still pedal the wrong metrics of success<br \/>\nAn expensive car or a sharp suit should not define the aspirations of success.<br \/>\nI want my son to aspire to a realistic, authentic masculinity.<br \/>\nNot one created by right wing bigots who merely use it as way to exert money, court fame and exert control and power over others.<br \/>\nThere are SO many amazing inspiring men out there<br \/>\nIf your sons need some inspiration give some of these guys a follow\u00a0<a
