The\nprotection you will need ranges from gear called \u2018nuts\u2019 to \u2018cams\u2019 and \u2018hexes\u2019. Before\nyou begin a climb, first choose who will lead the route. The leader will place all\nthe protection needed into cracks and fissures when they climb up. Built into a rocky cliff,\nthe wonderfully quirky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebmc.co.uk\/don-whillans-memorial-hut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Don Whillans Memorial Hut<\/a> can be booked for up to 12\npeople via the BMC. Feel like a mountaineering\npro with some of Snowdonia\u2019s favourite peaks at every surrounding angle. Visit on a sunny day and you\u2019ll be climbing above beautiful clear turquoise seas. Unlike some coastal rock climbing crags, Bosigran is high above the waves so there\u2019s no chance of getting wet, or having to abseil in. Peer over the sea cliffs on the coastal path,\nhowever, and you will find the rock climbers. Although the walk in needs a sure\nfoot for scrambling down over boulders, the belay ledges just above sea height are\nwide and easy to navigate between. Dartmoor\u2019s famous tors are grippy granite rock\nformations, originating from molten rock 280 million years ago. At Subliminal Cliff crag, the start of your rock climb begins just above the sea after\nabseiling down. Make sure you\u2019re in the know about tide times and abseiling technique\nto avoid any difficulty. However, instead of protecting yourself with your own gear, there are already bolts drilled into the rock. All you need are 10 or so quick draws and you\u2019ll be set! Each quick draw needs to be clipped into a bolt on one end and clipped into the rope on the other end. When you reach the top of the climb, you need to \u2018top out\u2019 (we recommend learning how to do this beforehand). Once you have done that, only then can you be lowered down. Unclip the quickdraws from the rope as there is no gear to collect. Because there are six areas spread over a kilometre, make sure you pick an\narea before you leave the car and use OS Maps to find the correct path.
