BCX8\">Cycling is great for physical and mental health and your wallet. It is a regular bicycle with the addition of an electric motor and battery .The electric motor is powered by the battery and provides power assistance when the cyclist is pedalling which eases the amount of effort required. The cyclist can choose how much assistance they get from the motor by selecting the power mode on an accompanying head unit. So, you don&#8217;t miss out on those fantastic endorphins as you&#8217;re still required to peddle, but an e-bike can make it a lot easier and allow you to go further and faster, especially up those dreaded hills!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is it legal? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\">In the <span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2 SCXW149834594 BCX8\">UK<span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\">, an <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2 SCXW149834594 BCX8\">e-bike<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\"> is road-legal for anyone aged 14 and over if the assisted speed is restricted to a generous 15.5mph.<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\">Modified<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\"> standa<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\">rd bikes are illegal, often <span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2 SCXW149834594 BCX8\">dangerous<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\"> and poor value for money, so best to avoid! <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>You do not need to pay vehicle excess duty on your bike and whilst insurance is not <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\" style=\"background-color: initial;\">necessary,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW149834594 BCX8\" style=\"background-color: initial;\"> we do recommend you have suitable property and personal insurance for any bike.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"images-with-captions\">\n    <figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/osmaps.com\/discover\/site\/uploads\/images\/2018champs\/Blog%20imagery\/E-bikes_all_you_need_to_know2.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"e-bike mountain bike&nbsp;\"><\/figure><div class=\"image-with-caption\">\n        \n        \n        \n        <p><\/p>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are there different types of e-bikes available? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW165088459 BCX8\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165088459 BCX8\">There is an e-bike to match every type of bike out there, from road to mountain bike and all the way to transporting cargo bikes<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2 SCXW165088459 BCX8\">.  <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW165088459 BCX8\">Think about what you would use it for before you decide on the type of bike. Are you looking for something which allows you to speed up the forest hills so you can whizz back down? Are you wanting to hand in your bus pass and arrive at the office stress-free? The average range <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\">is typically between 25-100 miles. This is model\/riding-style dependent, but <span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2 SCXW194182892 BCX8\">most likely this will be enough to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\"> get you through your daily commute.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\">If you run out of battery the bike will still function as a regular bicycle, although it&#8217;s worth baring in mind that <span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2 SCXW194182892 BCX8\">e-bikes<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\"> tend to be heavier<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW194182892 BCX8\"> as they have the electric motor and battery on board.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How long does it take to recharge the battery? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW163665082 BCX8\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW163665082 BCX8\">This will depend on the size of the battery.
