And something sweet, maybe a toffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What drives you to spend time outside?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like the spirit of adventure, it\u2019s so carefree like children playing\u2026 and I like playing. I live by the George Bernard Shaw quote:&nbsp;<em><\/em><em>\u2018we don\u2019t stop playing because we grow old\u2026 we grow old because we stop playing\u2019.<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where are your favourite places to go?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I most like to be in the mountains, whether that is climbing, cycling or walking, nothing feels as good. Give me a map and compass and I am in my happy place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my hobbit like way, I love going on an adventure. This usually means a walk, climb or bike ride somewhere but I could equally be exploring new places. I just love being in connection with the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who inspires you and how?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anybody who faces adversity but fights through it to carry on doing what they love. It makes me so grateful about the opportunities I have. I think somebody like Martyn Ashton (Mountain Biker) is a real great inspiration to me as he broke his back during a stunt and is now paralysed from the waist down. To see him ride a bike again was unreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Martyn Ashton - Back On Track\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kX_hn3Xf90g?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally I would like to increase my online presence, so that I can inspire more people to get out and try different activities like exploring bothy\u2019s. I\u2019d really like to visit all the other champions in their \u2018element\u2019 and broaden my horizons too as they are such amazing people and it would be great to learn from them too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are your 3 biggest life achievements?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kilimanjaro summit, Mountain Leader, Lands End to John O\u2019Groats cycle ride.
